Yanagawa

Yanagawa domain headed by the Tachibana clan in the Edo period (1603-1868) was located in the Chikugo area of Fukuoka Prefecture. The lord’s secondary residence, called “Ohana,” is a valuable cultural property rooted in the community today as a restaurant inn. The city of Yanagawa is fenced in by creeks, which many tourists enjoy going down by boat. Yanagawa also features gastronomic delights including the specialty steamed eel, sake from the rice producing region of Chikugo, and delicacies of the Ariake Sea.
