相模湾一帯を、生態系豊かな海に再生させる活動を行っている渡邊華子さん。近年、相模湾沿岸では地球温暖化などの影響で、魚のすみかである「藻場」が失われ、生態系や水産業への悪影響が懸念されています。そこで渡邊さんは、ヨットやモーターボートなどを係留・保管するマリーナで藻場を再生させる取り組みをスタート。今後は相模湾から世界へと規模を広げて行き、子どもたちに豊かな海を残したいと語る渡邊さんの思い描く未来とは？ Ms. Hanako Watanabe is working to restore a vibrant marine ecosystem along the coast of Sagami Bay. In recent years, seaweed beds along the coast of Sagami Bay, a habitat for fish, have been lost due to global warming and other factors, raising concerns about adverse effects on the ecosystem and fishing industry. In response to this, Ms. Watanabe started an initiative to restore seaweed beds at a marina where yachts, motorboats, and other boats are kept. Ms. Watanabe says she wants to expand this initiative from Sagami Bay to the world and leave a vibrant ocean for her children. What kind of future does she envision?
